Check in reader app
With Betterez, you can use a card reader to fill the information of the passengers in the sales process.
First you need to configure the check-in.
And then the reader, to do it navigate to Admin -> Check in, and then click the Readers card.
Once you are here, you can set the port number, test if the connection can be established with the machine and save it.
Also if you open the user side menu you can see at any time which port the document reader is using:
To work with the reader, Betterez created a standalone windows application that needs to be configured, below are the steps.
Betterez Document Reader
Installation
Prerequisites:
- .NET Framework 4.8 installed. Download from here
- Windows machine (tested on Win 10 Pro)
First you need to execute the BundleSetup and follow the steps.
Some versions of Windows will ask you to run the installer as administrator, or you may see some screen telling you that the app is not recognized, if that is the case just click on more info and click on run anyway. Bellow is a similar screen that may appear.
Before running the application you will need to install the reader.pfx (the file called reader that you can see in the image above) certificate to be trusted by the browser. In the next section you will see a way to do it.
Install the self-signed SSL certificate
Open the folder where the reader.pfx is and do a right click on it, a menu will appear with the option to install PFX, click on that one and complete the installation process.
A few things to consider in order to successfully install the certificate:
- If at any point of the installation the installer ask you for a password just leave it empty.
- In one step of the installation the program will ask which store the certificate belongs to, you should select Trusted Root Certification Authorities.
- After the installation you should restart your browser, if not the changes in the certificates directory won't be applied.
Execute the program
Now that you have everything installed you can run the BtrzDocumentReaderApp.
You have two ways to run the app:
- By double-clicking on the shortcut that is now in your desktop.
- Accessing through the programs menu.
Please be sure that your reader is connected, the first time you open the program it may take some time to start because it is configuring the device, you will see a loading bar.
Once the device is configured you will have the option to add a new certificate, start, close and test the reader, as you can see in the image below:
The first thing you need to do is click on Select Certificate, this will open a window and you have to find and select the same certificate reader that you installed a few steps before. You have to do this every time you open the program, in futures version this might change in order to do it only one time.
Now that you selected the certificate all the buttons that are at the bottom will be enabled so you can Start the program by clicking on the Start button. After clicking the button, the program will be minized in the Windows menu bar where you can access by clicking the icon.
Remember that the number that you put in the input next to Select a machine enabled port has to be the same you fill on the check in readers configuration, once the program is started you can test the connection in Betterez.
Now the BtrzDocumentReaderApp is running so you can fill your passengers information in Betterez using the reader.
Testing the reader
The program also have the ability to see if your reader is working properly, and it's reading the information you want, you can click on Test reader, a new window will appear and every time you scan a document you will see the information collected.
